About the Institute
A private academic institute based in Xinjiang, focused on the regional economy, trade and industry of Central Asia.
About
The Xinjiang–Central Asia Institute for Economic and Environmental Studies (CAIEES) is a private academic institute focused on Central Asia, registered in Ürümqi. The institute’s core direction is research on the regional economy, trade and industry, examining economic ties, trade patterns, supply chains and the policy environment between Xinjiang and Central Asian countries through long-term, restrained empirical work. Around this main axis, work extends into the sustainability constraints of resources and the supporting questions of human capital and mobility — to avoid the bias of any single perspective.
Position and approach
We work in a small-scale, long-term, verifiable mode. Topic selection is restrained, conclusions are kept measured, and process is traceable. We do not let news cycles set the research agenda, and we do not release claims that cannot be supported. Outputs take the form of thematic reports, joint research papers and consultative deliverables to partners; selected summaries are made public.
Ethics and compliance
CAIEES observes the relevant national laws and the standard norms of research ethics. Data are drawn primarily from public statistics, official documents and open publications; non-public materials, fieldwork records and partner data are used under information-protection and authorised-use principles. Out of respect for sources, interviewees and partners, no material is released without permission.
